Objective To investigate the safety and feasibility of domestic single-arm single-port robotic assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (SP-RARP) for the treatment in patients with large-volume prostate cancer (PCa).
Methods Clinical data of patients with large volume PCa who underwent single-arm SP-RARP surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from March 2025 to March 2026 were collected. Perioperative indicators such as operative time, pain score, postoperative hemoglobin reduction level, intestinal recovery and exhaustion time, length of hospital stay, positive postoperative pathological margins, recovery of urinary control, and complications were analyzed.
Results A total of 10 patients were included, with preoperative prostate-specific antigen levels of 11.6 (10.2, 19.1) ng/mL and prostate volume of 79.4 (67.2, 102.9) mL. In the perioperative indicators, the surgical time was 145.5 (121.5, 163.3) min, the surgical operation time was 115.0 (86.0, 125.8) min, the hemoglobin decreased by 20.0 (15.5, 24.5) g/L, and the incision length was 4.3 (4.1, 4.4) cm. On the first day after surgery, the pain score was 1 (1, 2) points, and the postoperative hospital stay was 3.0 (3.0, 4.3) days. Two cases had positive pathological margins after surgery, and five cases recovered urine control one month after surgery. All patients had no intermediate opening or serious complications during the perioperative period.
Conclusion This study preliminarily indicates that domestic single-arm robots for SP-RARP treatment of large-volume PCa patients are safe and feasible, among the 10 patients included, 50 percent of patients recovered urinary control one month after surgery. However, further validation through multicenter, large-sample randomized controlled trials and long-term follow-up is still needed.
