Objective To investigate medical students attitudes and demands for ideological and po-litical elements within their course, explore its effects on curriculum ideology and politics, implement the concept of the three comprehensive education elements, and to provide reference for the ideological and political design and teaching reform of medical courses.
Methods The sample consisted of gradu-ate students taking the evidence-based medicine course in the first semester of the 2021-2022 academ-ic year of the Second Clinical College of Wuhan University. The questionnaire "Cognition and Attitude of Curriculum Ideology and Politics", designed to investigate students' requirements and evaluation of ideological and political content was administered to all students. SPSS 22.0 software was used for data entry and analysis.
Results A total of 138 students were included, of which 83.33% were interested in the integration of ideological and political education into evidence-based medicine courses. The more students were interested in the ideological and political content of the professional courses, the more they recognized the influence of the instructor on themselves in terms of ideals and beliefs (r=0.33, P<0.001), benevolence (r=0.28, P<0.001), moral sentiments (r=0.24, P=0.005) and solid knowledge (r=0.21, P=0.02). The ideological and political elements that students mainly focus on are the contents of the combination of professional knowledge and ideological and political knowledge (51.45%), and hope that ideological and political content can be organically integrated and not too "deliberate" (84.06%).
Conclusion Most medical students have positive attitudes towards the integration of ideology and pol-itics into professional courses. Natural, judicious and timely integration of ideological and political ele-ments and adopting innovative teaching methods can achieve better results.
